We have created a new Character Education program at my school, modeled after the Character Counts program. I have made each month a different characteristic to focus on, here is our outline:
August- teamwork
October- Respect
November- Trustworthiness
December- Mindfulness
January- Responsibility
February- Caring
March- Fairness
April- Citizenship
May- Community
I start each month introducing the key characteristic and we do a think, pair, share on
1. what it means to us personally
2. What is means to our school
3. What it means in our family
In each of my lessons I try to include a short video/audio segment, a hands on activity, and a group discussion.
