Introduction:

The character trait we are learning about this month is Fairness.

How does Fairness play a role in a court trial?

How does a jury’s job fit into this character trait?

Break the classroom up into two/three separate juries or have them all work together as a larger jury. Have the students work as a jury to decide the fairness of the following statements. If the group can’t agree you may try to convince them to change their minds based on your opinion. But, you must reach a consensus, meaning only one group judgment per statement.

For each statement write agree or disagree & why.

1. An allowance should be based on doing chores around the house.

2. When sharing, everyone should get an equal amount

3. If friends can do something, then I should be, too.

Exit Ticket: In the United States courtroom, a person accused of a crime is innocent until proven guilty. How does this reflect upon the character trait of Fairness?
